Welcome to Cuyuna Rhythm!

Dave Peterson - Guitar, vocals:
Dave first joined Cuyuna Rhythm as a bass player but switched to guitar after a former band member left the group. Music has been a lifelong passion, and he's self taught on guitar, bass, banjo, dobro, and mandolin. Dave spent 35 years as a teacher/wrestling coach, but now pursues new interests and strives to develop his music and songwriting activities.
Dave and his wife Mary make their home in Riverton, Minnesota. Dave also plays with a local gospel bluegrass band, Churchyard, and has played with a traditional bluegrass band, Cuyuna Creek. Below is one of Dave's originals, I Love Good Music. You can check out more of his original songs on youtube.

John Laughlin - Drums, vocals, harmonica:
John has played drums since the age of 14. His dad gave him a harmonica at 17 to play while hitchhiking out west to keep him from getting bored while sitting under bridges waiting for rides.

John has played in bar bands in the Minneapolis area from the late 70's to early 90's. John spends part of the winter playing blues harp and singing down in Clearwater, Florida. He enjoys writing songs during his time off in the winter and can play a bit of guitar, enough to put some songs together. John is from the Minneapolis area and moved his company, Laughlin Grounds Landscape, to the Brainerd Lakes area in 1998. John and his wife Barbara reside near Ironton,MN.

Jody Stewart - Guitar:
Jody has a wealth of experience playing with different groups over the years, mainly as a lead guitar player. One of his stints was with Flash Cadillac while he lived in Colorado.

Jody's guitar work is clean and fluid and he's skilled in diverse styles of music. Jody played for many years with the popular Stool Pigeons band in the Brainerd lakes area. A more recent endeavor finds Jody involved in playing music for a recovery service the first Saturday of the month at Cascade Church near Deerwood. It is worth a night out to catch Jody kickin' out licks on his well broken in Fender Strat.

Jody is also a knowledgeable live sound expert and if you are in the need of sound equipment or advice, Jody can assist you with a need you may have along those lines. Stewart Enterprises, Inc

Carolyn Olson - Bass guitar, vocals:

Carolyn grew up with the stereo or radio going most of the time. She is a self taught musician.

She and her mother learned to play guitar and sing together at the age of 12. Carolyn has played in various country bands around the Brainerd lakes area on and off for the last 25 years. Her vocals are powerful and sounds a bit like some of the old country greats, such as Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Lucinda Williams. Her passion is country music, but she has a great feel for Blues & rock.
Listen to Carolyn's recording of the Patsy Cline hit, I Fall to Pieces.

Carolyn, an independent businesswoman, not only adds a solid bass line, but also a strong lead voice and when not leading a song does sweet harmonies as you will see when you come out to see Cuyuna Rhythm live.

Rick Koop - Keyboard:
While Rick has played the piano for most of his life, over the years his playing has evolved from being trained in a classical style to Rock n Boogie.

In addition to playing with Cuyuna Rhythm, Rick also does solo music with his keyboard at various community events and some of the local care centers. He's also a night owl - many hours go into playing to relax and forget about daily stresses. Rick enjoys the rehearsals as much as the gigs! He lives near Ironton, Mn with his wife Deb.
